a dye test

Last night I re-did Mon Mothma’s sleeves because I realized I’d done them a little wrong – thankfully nothing difficult to fix.

I don’t feel like figuring out the necklace thingie D:
I am lazy. I don’t want to do any crafting. I just want to sew. NO CRAFT ONLY SEW

So since I didn’t feel like messing with that I did a dye test on the linen blend I got for TFA Leia.

Fresh out of the dye, rinsed off and dried with paper towel – so not totally dry yet. But looks pretty good here.

Along with the inner dress fabric dye test, which was too green but I wanted to see them together:

After a couple of hours it had dried completely and the colour had dulled a little bit. I only kept it in the dye maybe 5 minutes so I’ll need to do it for longer when I do the actual fabric. I’m off work Friday so I’ll probably do the actually dyeing then. Too involved for a week night project.

SWATCH WATCH 2017 IS OVER!
They showed up yesterday.

I’m glad I waited for them. The colour I thought was going to be the one is not, it’s the Coral in the front. Ordering later this week!

Finished up the 4th movie in our AFI movie marathon – Blade Runner. Nice to finally sit down and watch it all the way through. Next is… “Do the Right Thing” I think.

And finally to end this post, Chase got me presents at Goodwill yesterday LOL

I’ve been slowly trying to complete my clamshell Disney VHS collection – there were quite a few holes. A few years ago I “inherited” the ones that lived at my grandma’s house, but that still left me missing a few. I got Sword in the Stone and… one other earlier this year, I can’t remember which one it was!! A friend gave me Chitty Chitty Bang Bang recently too.
I was missing Mary Poppins. I had this one recorded on a VHS off tv, so never had the “real” version.
Pocahontas – I just never bought this one because it was so late in the game, I feel like we’d already switched to DVD by this point.
Fox and the Hound – a movie I refuse to watch again so of course I never owned it. Just got it to round out the collection.
Alice in Wonderland… OH Alice in Wonderland!! When I was very little and we’d gotten our first VCR, we had a small video rental place nearby. This was pre-Blockbuster (dating myself here). It was a tiny little hole in the wall and one side was VHS and one side was BetaMax. I remember going there multiple times and seeing Alice in Wonderland on the shelf and grabbing it… and dad would have to tell me, “We can’t rent that one. It’s BetaMax.” They didn’t have a VHS version. It was so maddening, I wanted it so bad! I mean I know I saw the movie growing up, probably on tv at some point, or a friend had it? But I never owned it. Never got to rent it. So now I have my own VHS copy. Take that old 1980s rental BetaMax version.

That got off track.

Costume stuff I plan to do in the next week:
-Press Mon Mothma, it needs it
-figure out if I’m going to add metallic floss to these braids
-figure out shoulder pieces
-buy wig
-buy organza for the pink thing
-dye the satin I bought for the pink thing
-dye the linen for TFA Leia
-dye the underdress fabric for TFA Leia

I feel like that is a good chunk to do, yeah?
